Top Available Free Agents for NFL Training Camp 2009 by Lloyd Vance

With training camps set to open in late July there are still some quality players looking for work.  Unfortunately for most of the players currently not on NFL rosters, there seems to be distinct reasons (off the field issues, age, injuries, etc) why NFL teams are taking a wait and see view toward them.  Maybe some of the free agents will have to go the route of the UFL to get back into pro football, but we know injuries are a huge factor in the NFL.  It is only a matter of time before some unfortunate players go down in training camp and preseason which will necessitate some of the free agent players listed getting a call.

Who cares about the NBA draft?

Hey folks,

Well the NBA Draft 2009 was full of surprises around the NBA, but not so much when it came to the ACTUAL draft.

Blake Griffin was taken first overall pick by the LA Clippers, and I wish him the best of luck. Seems like a cool kid. Here is the complete list.

But the biggest news in the basketball world came from the trades. As mentioned earlier rumors were swirling around regarding a Shaq to Cavaliers trade. Done? Check.

Winning the World T20 is NOT Enough, Dear PCB

It’s like a convict claiming he’s innocent because his son won the ikebana contest in school. Pakistan won the World Twenty20 Cup in England, and I think they really played well; it was a deserved victory. But now their cricket board wants us to believe that it’s safe to play in Pakistan. It’s unfortunate, not only because it belittles the achievement of the team, but more so because that’s showing blatant disrespect for the lives lost in the shocking attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore earlier this year.

Happy Father's Day, Dad

The first college football game ever televised, Waynesburg vs. Fordham in 1939.

On a steamy August Saturday afternoon in the summer of 1938, New York right-hander Monte Pearson pitched the first no-hitter in Yankee Stadium history. The Yanks beat the Cleveland Indians, 13-0, that afternoon to complete a doubleheader sweep.

Pearson, shown below,, who was 16-7 that year and won exactly 100 games lifetime,  faced the minimum 27 batters, striking out seven. Tommy Henrich and Joe Gordon each homered twice.

if Jesus played baseball-the game call

One of my favorite segments ever on radio I found today on youtube.

It’s called The First Baseball Game Ever Played.

In short, what if baseball would have been played during the time of Jesus? How would that have been announced? By Harry Caray of course!

There is no video…audio only.
