It was a relief not to have a fuel race for a change.

The end was almost a tad boring because the top 3 cars were evenly matched, but at least the winner actually won the race.

And the trophy will arrive home in one piece………

Red Bull: Sooo, they may switch and become Bowtie next year. Interesting that Oyota would allow this to happen, considering the amount of success that KidKyle has had the past few years. Although not yet a dominate force in NA$CAR, Red Bull Racing has established itself as a premier sports oriented company, and is spread over several racing leagues. Yep, this could eventually become somewhat of a black eye for Oyota.

GM: What a turn-around from years past. Instead of racing in Michigan to showcase the Big Three manufacturers, thanks to our gracious President and his Democratic dweebs in Congress, this year we can cheer our own Government Motors to the winners circle. Yes, whether you are a died in the wool Ford or Chrysler fan, we all now own a piece of GM, and will be owning it for quite some time.

Another good race. Say….maybe this COT isn’t as bad as they say it is. I hate fuel races, but this one had some pizzazz to it, and the fans loved it.

More drugs: NA$CAR put the whammy on JerryMaybefield. They counter sued him. Each driver has a contract with NA$CAR, and they must report if they are taking a prescription drug. Sorta looks like NA$CAR’s deep pockets have whomped poor Jerry over da head with a sledge hammer. Like I said a few weeks ago, Jerry oughta pack it in, open a Subway shop, and get on with his life. At this point, there is NO WAY that a potential sponsor would want to associate themselves with this team.

This could go down as one of the dumbest races of ‘09. Another ‘winner’ who shoulda been at the end of the longest line.

What a way to waste a perfectly good 3 day weekend……

What a great race evening, and capped off with the final 10 laps of exciting racing.

Each segment had its exciting moments, but the last 10 laps were head and shoulders above the rest.

Unfortunately, I’m starting to think about next week’s Coke 600. It can’t be this exciting. Matter of fact, it’s so long that it tends to get boring for the most part.

My advice is to watch the last 50 laps (if you can time it that closely).

Am I awake yet? Is this race over yet? Far too many yellows, even for Darlington. But the Old Geezer won another one………

Geezers: OK, so SirMark’s gonna take a poke at another full time ride in ’10. Goodie for him, but this leaves a promising driver (BradK) out on his ear. One way they can make this work (under the max 4 car rule) is if Jr. gets a car into Cup next year. He’s been toying with the idea, but now the Markmeister is pushing his hand. Could there be some back room negotiations with Rick? Hmmm.

Another great short track Sprint Cup race at Richmond. Although it started off a bit boring things heated up at about mid-way and it turned out to be a darn fine race.

What an outstanding race. Many lead changes, some Big One’s, and enough thrills and spills to make everyone happy.

It’s good to finally witness a RACE, instead of a boring ho hum waste of time.

Apologies: Again, I apologize for not being able to report the whole race at Phoienix. I did encounter a bit of ‘eating my words’, cuz I had dissed SirMark for being a perenial loser. Yes, I ate Humble Pie (actually, it sorta tasted like Key Lime pie, cuz I was in Miami).

Racing Maniac checks in with another satirical race recap with his (partial) recap of Saturday night’s Sprint Cup race at Phooeinx… er… Phoenix.

Feathers: Morgan- McClure Motorsports is returning the legendary #4 car to the track, and guess who is slated to be the driver? Have you heard of Eric McClure before? He’s the 30 year old nephew of one of the owners. Gee, I wonder how he managed to jump into this ride?? Another case of featherbedding, if you ask me. Hey, it’s not working for Rusty, either…….

Another reasonable race. OK, maybe not so much. Maybe they ought to resurrect the Car of Yesterday.

Tanx: Mucho gusto thankso to Carolyn and Boyd for filling in for me the past two weeks. I dislike being a road warrior two weekends in a row, especially at this time of the year. The grass is growing, the fish are biting and I’ve been missing some great golf weather. Time for me to slow down and smell the dandelions.

Hendrick Motorsports definitely has it figured out a Martinsville. Congrats for a win on their anniversary celebration.

It was nice to see some new faces in the top 10 today. I’m hopeful we’ll continue to see improvement in many of the young drivers and a resurgence from some of the oldies.

Fox coverage: Where is Carl Spackler when we need him? I can hear my favorite greenskeeper now…”Correct me if I’m wrong Sandy, but if I kill all the golfers, they’re gonna lock me up and throw away the key…” Well, Digger is one furry rodent I’d like to see Carl blast to the high heavens. “Au revoir, gopher!”

Hey, a couple of more finishes like this, and SirMark’s gonna start planning his (last) retirement party. At the most, I see maybe two or three top 5’s, but nothing more than that this year. I could be surprised, but when you’re in Las Vegas next week, see what the odds are……..

It’s a slow news week, so I won’t belabor mindless fodder. This time I’ll let my mind wander, and see what I come up with.

Yeah, for a shortened race, it was full of excitement and worth the view. As much as we like to see The Big One, it does mess up the end of the race, and allows some drivers to get an undeserving finish. But, such is NA$CAR…..

Another loooong year of stock car racing is behind us. Jr. was right. Unlike the NFL, this sport does not leave you wishing for more. It leaves you dragged out and wanting a long siesta during the winter……
