Racing Maniac checks in with another satirical race recap with his (partial) recap of Saturday night’s Sprint Cup race at Phooeinx… er… Phoenix.

Feathers: Morgan- McClure Motorsports is returning the legendary #4 car to the track, and guess who is slated to be the driver? Have you heard of Eric McClure before? He’s the 30 year old nephew of one of the owners. Gee, I wonder how he managed to jump into this ride?? Another case of featherbedding, if you ask me. Hey, it’s not working for Rusty, either…….

Jeff Gordon Claims Martinsville Sprint Cup Pole… Weather Permitting

As predicted, the weather got the advantage on qualifying and with Gordon leading, the pole position was his. The cars and drivers did however get a chance to practice on track and Denny Hamlin was fastest in the first session with Harvick second and finally Gordon was third fastest in his DuPont Chevrolet.

The weather may be a factor the entire weekend with storms coming up from the gulf coast bringing vast amounts of rain and possibly flooding in the forcast.

Mark Martin’s Luck Has Got To Change

Mark Martin had a great weekend going for him, in the top with practice speeds, winning the pole, and running up front during most of the race. Then, the unexpected happened, hurtling his car into turn one at the Atlanta Motor Speedway during the Kobalt Tools 500 race, his car took a slide into the outside retaining wall that left his car crippled from the damage sustained when he backed his car hard into it at top speed.
