TV Times - A “Real” Racer Has To Have A Name Like “Speed”

3 Wide Life is a show about real racers. A “real” racer eats, sleeps and breaths racing. Occasionally, they are born with a name that doesn’t give them a chance at doing anything else. Such is the case for NASCAR newcomer, Scott Speed.

“It’s my real name,” says Speed. “It was my dad’s name and he passed it on to me. It’s not like I HAD to race, but it certainly seems that if you walk around with a name like ‘Speed’ that people will assume that’s what you are born to do. I don’t know if that’s what I was born to do, but the name has definitely helped me out with opportunities over the years.”

Do you blame Junior?

I am going to open up this can of worms.

And I am sure I will get comments from both sides of the Dale Earnhardt Jr./Brian Vickers issue, or at least I hope to.

After repeated viewings of the Jr./Vickers wreck that took out many of the top contending cars, I don’t see where you can blame just one driver for that wreck. With that said, Jr. did not so himself any favors by missing his pit stall earlier in the race not pitting outside the box which caused him to be placed even deeper in the field. Frankly, his car slid so it was just sitting on the white pit stall line, so that was a difficult call. Other drivers were missing their pits all week long for some reason.

KDKA's Sports Team Used To Rule

Check out how killer KDKA's sports team was back in the day (I will assume the day was at least 15 years ago).

Then, the lineup included Stan Savran, Bob Pompeani, Mike Lange, Paul and John Steigerwald. Your feelings might have changed on them since this badass promo aired, but you gotta respect the clout in those gymnastics warmups.

Savran is now the patriarch of Fox Sports Net Pittsburgh,

Rankings Are Stupid

To make this perfectly clear...I hate rankings. Sure, when I was younger, I'd check out Power Rankings throughout the NFL season to see where "experts" felt the Steelers were at in comparison to other teams, but it's easy to grow cynical of said rankings when you begin to understand that they are just the opinions of some chump. I put my opinions on this page, but that doesn't mean you have to
