Shabbat Shalom: Friday Wrap-Up (6/26/09)

The New York Yankees love the Jews.  I am down in South Florida for the weekend.  It is nice to see part of my family…a five hour drive is not the worst thing in the world.  I am turning in a paper for my Business Organizations class on Monday.  The topic: Duties of Sports Agents to Athletes and Statutory Regulation Thereof.  Lots of SPARTA and UAAA discussion involved.  I will post the paper online sometime in the near future.  Our young baseball players have started short season ball, and some of our more experienced guys continue to perform well.  We are still advising some players who were drafted.  Time to enjoy my family and dog, Mushu.  Here are some stories I missed over

Turkoglu Testing Waters

If there is one thing that many learned from this season’s NBA Playoffs, it is that Orlando Magic small forward Hedo Turkoglu is a great basketball player. Hedo and his agent Lon Babby have realized this and are using it to their advantage. Turkoglu opted out of his final year with the Magic and has decided, in turn, to test the market. Babby says the market for his client appears to be “robust.”

Shabbat Shalom: Friday Wrap-Up (6/19/09)

This Shabbat Shalom: Friday Wrap-Up is coming to you from the capitol of Florida: Tallahassee.  Yesterday, I woke up (actually barely even slept because of chirping birds all night) at roughly 6 a.m. to get my girlfriend ready for her MCAT.  Thankfully that battle is behind us.  I feel like I have been studying for the MCAT for the past two months, too.  Don’t get me started about the audio tracks I had to listen to on the ride up to Tally.  How do you like the new toolbar on the bottom of this page?  Make sure to join our Facebook Community by clicking on the Community tab…and send a shout out.  Still working hard on the baseball guys that we are advising, and fielding offers for our basketball players overseas.  Here are some stories I missed this past week:

Shabbat Shalom: Friday Wrap-Up (6/12/09)

Wow, it has been a very long and draining week.  But I expected as much going into it.  We have been dealing with the MLB Draft nonstop and will continue to work with our guys who were and were not drafted in the coming months.  Additionally, we will begin to look at 2010 and beyond to pick out exactly which baseball players we think will fit well in the Dynasty family.  Dynasty has also been in talks with various overseas basketball teams about some of our players.  They are commanding quite a bit of interest!  Jason Belmonte and other Dynasty Bowlers will hit the lanes this weekend in New Jersey for the GEICO PBA Team Challenge.  Check out live updates at Be

Shabbat Shalom: Friday Wrap-Up (6/5/09)

The MLB Draft begins next Tuesday and will last until Thursday night.  Dynasty has been working around the clock to prepare ourselves for next week.  We will be putting in very long hours!  The rain does not seem to stop here in Gainesville, FL.  If we see an hour of sunshine in a day, we consider ourselves lucky.  Today is my 6 month anniversary with my girlfriend…I have a nice little surprise for her.  She will be taking the MCAT in less than 2 weeks…better believe she is a little stressed.  Working on some big things with Jason Belmonte and Super Bowl week events.  Here are some stories I missed over the past week:

Basketball Agency Puts Together Its Own Workout

Recently, I discussed the three main workouts that NBA teams are putting on for the top prospects in this year’s draft class.  Teams are joining up on these workouts to cut the cost of doing them individually, which include the fixed costs of hosting the event itself, flying the players out to the workout, putting the players up in a hotel, giving the players a per diem, etc.

David Falk Is Happy With Representing One Player In This Year’s Draft

Jonathan Givony of DraftExpress.com recently sat down with basketball agent, David Falk, following Givony’s review of David’s new book, The Bald Truth.  Givony first probed Falk to answer questions regarding his book: what motivated Falk to write

Product Review: ProPlayerVideo.com

Austin Walton, Dynasty’s Director of Basketball Operations, originally turned me on to the website, ProPlayerVideo.com.  He told me that many NBA/NBDL GMs, Assistant GMs, and scouts use the service to check out film on players who they might have not had a solid chance of evaluating in the past.  Additionally, he told me that the site is well respected overseas, and that decision makers in foreign leagues love to view players’ profiles and videos on the web site.  So I decided to reach out to the web site’s founder and see what the site is really all about.

Shabbat Shalom: Friday Wrap-Up (5/22/09)

I am back up in lovely Gainesville, FL.  No matter if you are in Miami, Gainesville, or anywhere else in the state, you better get used to summer weather.  Blistering heat until 2-3 p.m., then at least a couple of hours of thunderstorms.  Such is life.  I am back to taking classes and working very hard on our current clients, plus our prospects in both baseball and basketball.  Last week I went to open tryouts for the new Lingerie Football League.  It was fun to watch and definitely is an interesting concept with a novel compensation structure for its players.  Hey, if it grows to be large enough, perhaps some of the hard hitting ladies will need some good representation.  Here are some stories I missed over the past week:

Shabbat Shalom: Friday Wrap-Up (5/1/09)

Anyone purchase their TeeBows yet?  How long until a lawsuit shuts that site down?  Okay, so I have 4 finals out of the way and only 1 left, sitting there laughing at me.  His name is Corporations and I will battle him at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.  Then it’s back to business as usual, but that business will be conducted down in South Florida for a couple of weeks.  I have Blue Key induction tomorrow night.  Interestingly, Tim Tebow, is in my induction class and Urban Meyer will be an honorary inductee.  Here are some stories I missed over the past week:
